We live in a world that judges a book by its cover, that’s reality. So how do we step up to the plate and let our appearance match the content of our words. Not an easy task indeed. Many barriers which makes wearing the apparel you desire a challenging task. Expensive does not mean classy, comfort should be the main criteria. When I say comfort I don’t refer to jeans when going to an interview, I mean wearing something that makes you confident.
Not all of us have the financial muscle to flex in the stores department, but there are many ways to work around it. If you value yourself and your image, take good care of that image. Robert Greene writes “So much depends on your reputation- guard it with your life”. Your image like it or not creates a certain opinion about you, that opinion stands between you getting the job or not.
Every profession we know have their professional attire. Nurses, Doctors, Engineers, Force men etc, all have the way they appear at different times. Force men have ceremonial dress which is used only on special occasions. The Doctors have different clothes for the consulting room, ward round and theatre. This change of attire is not for entertainment. It is used for proper identification and to create awareness of the occasion or the particular activity. Pilots do not dress like pop stars, else reasonable people won't board their flight. No matter how sick and weak you may be, if a medical doctor dressed like a soldier, armed with guns and knives, walks into the theatre room and introduces himself as your surgeon, I'm sure you'll quickly look for a way of escape.
Conforming to the norm is not what I’m advocating for but rather advocating for dressing the way you want to be addressed. With conforming it means to lose your individuality and take shape of are something you not. True beauty comes from within let it shine through. We are vessels at a wine refinery, the worth of the vessel depends on the wine inside and the quality of the wood used to make that vessel.
Publishers are good at creating an image of a book that screams “READ ME”. Why not dress the way that says I am a man worthy of listening to. Put on an amore that not only protects but one that symbolizes you are a Spartan. A general will dress to match his accolades and
merits. You are a General of your own life;
suit up because you are going to war.
