UNDERACHIEVER'S SECRET PART 2. (The truth you need to set you free from Mediocrity) by Ijeoma Esther Ogbuka.
"Ola is one of those ladies described as being born with silver spoon.
Her father, a great magnate and political juggernaut has a
questionable destructive devotion to political affairs. His strings of
wealth is so massive like erythrocytes constantly produced in the bone
marrow. He's so successful that his fame spread abroad. Unfortunately,
his daughter, Ola happened not to acquire that tactful,
able-to-conquer aspect of him. She's too docile, overly malleable. Her
father often scold her, expressing his dissatisfaction over her
tractable behaviour. 'We live in a harsh world full of villains.
Softness puts you at the mercy of people around you, Build your mind
and control your emotion. The rain of advices showered by his father
failed on deaf ears. Having gotten a high second class upper division
degree, she has achieved the greatest thing she can ever work hard
for. She doesn't need further studies nor professional qualifications.
After four years of working in her father's company, he summoned her
to obtain her Master's degree which Ola bluntly refused. She's an only
child with heaven right there in her room. What more could she ever
ask for. Having persisted the much he could, her father gave up with
his pesterings. All she yearns for is a blissful marriage...meeting
the Prince charming who will love her forever. Desperate as she was,
her love web caught Dennis, an oil tycoon. He's all she has ever
prayed for. They soon had a grandiloquent wedding which attracted
thousands of expensive gifts. Her marriage indeed was blessed as the
enjoyed conjugal bliss.
Their son's two years old birthday brought so much joy and laughter to
the two years old marriage. Being onshore for weeks, Dennis came
offshore so as to celebrate his son's birthday with his darling wife.
He never knew his son's birthday happens to be his own death day as
several bullets were shot into his handsome trunk. The news of his
assassination shattered Ola. It sounded incredible. All her childhood
dreams has always been...husband,marriage, and family. Where will she
start? Soon, she took solace in alcohol and drugs. Her addiction grew
from bad to worse till her father took her son away from her.
We have millions of people who live one day at a time....no purpose,
no vision, no ambition, no goals, no plans. They always quote" do not
think about tomorrow" forgetting the same scripture says" he that
builds a house should sit first and count the cost". Be you from the
richest of homes or the poorest of families, life without vision means
you will live without ambition.
"Only the vision-barren feels comfortable in an atmosphere of societal
pity"...Esther Ogbuka.
The world is tough and only the tough survives. Being at the mercy of
others poses a great threat to your destiny. Visionless/purposeless
life is the second underarchiever's secret. Write the vision, make it
plain, that you may run and not faint.
